Layton made it in the paper today!! His team is the Gold Bees. Tana's team is the Green Griffens. They have a tourney this week-end. Unfortunatly I'll be missing it. Boooo. I have a wedding to shoot. But I won't complain too much! Here is his!! I had to scan it in so the quality isn't good but you get the idea... Oh and it says doughnuts cause its timbits soccer... ha ha

Well I thought about doing this post a while ago.... Unfortunately (in some cases fortunately) my thoughts don't always become actions!! So here is a bit of what we have been doing lately! In no particular order.

Here is the mother's Day pot layton made me. So cute.

Here is the one Tana made me. Also adorable. It has seeds in it that haven't grown yet... But we are hoping.....

Layton and Lindsay spent a day doing this model and then they spray painted it orange, I did the rest according to Laytons ideas... Don't blame me for the crappy art work! (its a shark)

Laytons class hatched eggs at easter but they didn't get to see them hatch. It was kindof dissapointing but layton loved the chicks. He was super sick that day but refused to stay home so he could see them. The chicks came back later when they had white feathers for a day or two. Layton loved them too! Maybe we should get chickens!
Layton had a mario party for his birthday it was pretty fun we invited a few of his friends and his cousins were in town and lindsay worked insane hours but all in all we made it out alive... thats what counts right!!

His cupcakes for his school party. They are supposed to be red bricks like on mario with coins coming out the top... It was vanilla cake with jello in side. At least they tasted good right!?~?
I made a back ground and Layton helped me so all the kids could take turns being the real mario! It turned out pretty good I think.
Any way that is all for now. Life is crazy here with Soccer every night and swim club twice a week and school and primary and Lindsays piano lessons... (He is working on can you feel the love tonight!! its cute! Oh I mean manly..... ) Also with his elders quarum and all sorts of meetings between the two of us life gets nuts but we are handling it... Mostly I think... I mean we are all alive and have all our limbs, all in all I say things are good.
Oh did I mention I got an Iphone....
I love it..... I can put it down any time I want...
I promise I can..
just not now...

Lindsay has been gone for a while, So while he was away I thought I would re-do Layton's room!
I had a few set backs but all in all it went okay. I still need to get a few more things like the closet organizer and I just got the matching curtains which I am super excited about. Thanks MOM for finding them! I took some video of the change!

Christmas Carols....

Our Ward primary was invited to sing in the Community Christmas Concert. The Kids only practiced thier songs for 2 sunday's and did amazingly well. They sang in front of 800 people in the community. It was an amazing time and the kids were totally pumped with how well they did.
Sorry for the crappy video taping... Its really not my thing... lol

Okay so I hope it works and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Also Layton's School Christmas concert in on Wednesday!

Well I just realized that I have not posted since the first day of school! lol... Sorry!
I am finally having a bit of breathing room to catch up. We have been going like crazy and I have wanted to post a few things since then like the Reno.... but I 'll leave that for another day.
Here are the kids school pics first! They were so cute. I do apologies for Tanas crazy hair. It was in perfect ringlets when we left the house.... But it didn't stay. I have since learned how to make it stay! She is still cute though and I wouldn't change it for the world!

Tana dress actually lights up. It is a fiber optic one! She was pretty excited! Layton has been watching all the Harry potters lately and is so excited for the new one on the 19th.
Well I have to take Layton to school now so I'm off!

First Day of School!

They are soooo excited!

Layton went to meet his teacher and find out all about his cubby and locker and drop off his school supplies! He absolutely loves it, and is so excited to go back tomorrow! I can hardly believe this day has come!
Tana has attended two days now at Suzy Q's pre-school! She loves it and talks about school all the time! I am glad we put her in it! She gets to get out and be a part of somthing!

Well I need to go make use of my time !! Now that no one is around! ha ha! maybe I should just have a nap!

She is 3 today... wow where did the time go. Seriously. She is so independent and completely with out fault... for anything... She can make you so angry then flick a smile at you and the anger all goes away. She fits all the requirements of a perfect little 3 year old.

Layton Soccer Tourney!

Hey! So Layton had a soccer tournement and they won 2 out of 3 games... Lindsay got to see it all, I on the other hand was shooting a wedding and calling home to find out the details every free moment I got... which wasn't much! Lindsay was the big hero that day. He had both kids back and forth between soccer games and meals he also took them to mackers and then to see a car race that night. It sounds like they had a heck of a day! You can really tell that thier daddy sure loves them.

Laytons medal... Well everyone in his age group gets one!!

This video is kinda long but Layton got a goal.... You wont be able to see it as lindsay is holding Tana and couldn't capture it.

We are getting excited for our holidays. Lindsay and I are going to Calgary to shoot My friends wedding for the week-end. The kids are going to kates. Then we are all going to PA on the next friday night.. Not much time left now and we will be super busy in the mean time! Can't wait though... we need the break!

Good Things...

In Primary we learned about testimonies and how we can grow them. We learned that just like sunflowers they start out small and grow to be huge and then when they are all grown up they can share thier little seeds to those around them. It was a great activity and the kids loved it. They took home some sunflower seeds and a pot and they have really grown. These are a week old! They are about 2 1/2 inches now. Soon we can plant them outside!

This is Creamy.... NOT Hidey.... LONG story. But we are happy with her... She seems healthy and happy in her new home She talks alot..... and sometimes she gets up to drink in the night. But we are all adjusting.

Layton LOVES her... He shed a few tears about Hidey... But he seems to be quite happy with her. The funny thing about Layton is he can't have anyone thinking he is a bad kid..... SO the first thing he had to do after Creamy was all set up was to phone Grandma and Pop to make sure to tell them what happend so that when they seen her this weekend they wouldn't think that he lied to them about his guinea pig being a different kind and colour! Man I love this kid.

Being away from my kids for a week was a nice treat But I was excited to see them when I got home. They are a true Joy in my life... Oh and if you want to see pics from Linda's wedding go here

Lack of motivation.

I have been feeling soooo unmotivated lately. That is until yesturday... I am blaming it on hormones and no I am not prego. Nor do I plan to be! I have been just well for lack of better words... LOST.

So I have decided that in order to not be lost one has to have a direction to go. A destination if you will. I have officiall set some goals.... They may need to be revised some but still I think I am at least headed in the right direction now... At least for now.

Goal one...

Be Happy.

Goal two...

Be Busy.

Goal three.

Get a style with my photography and stick with it.

Goal four....

Be ME.

Thats it for now I am going to blog once a week about somthing I did towards one of the goals. there are 4 weeks in a month so I can work on one goal a week. That is the plan.

Smith Family Picture....2010 with everyone and no one's pregnant..... Well not that I know of! lol

Okay so We have been super busy lately! Well at least I have been! lol. Last week was spent catching up on junk.... like Wills, shopping for bathing suits and luggage and flip flops!

Don't you just love that the inside is purple... I won't lie that is totally what sold me! all 4 pairs of flip flops cost a total of 15 bucks! SAWEET!

This week is being spent on shopping for things we don't have but need for the trip.

Like razors and booster seats. Also finding van rentals and hotel junk and disney tickets.

And next week is....well.... WE LEAVE NEXT WEEK... aaaaaaaah.

I am freaking out here! I have so much left to do! lol... okay well not really but there is a lot I would like to get done this week. Like Clean my house from top to bottom and that includes all my laundry....all 10 loads lol... yah I am a little behind! lol. Where does it all come from. geesh.

I also was busy sewing this week! I made slip covers for the kids inflatable pillows and matching blankets for the trip. Also Lindsay and I have been Playing Laytons Nintendo DS alot trying to win DRY BONES back after I "accidently" erased it. ha ha. I actually erased it all on purpose because santa brought it to layton and we actually bought it from my brother and it had his name all over it and Layton is way to inquisitive to let it go if he finally learned how to read, which by the way is happening too fast! ha ha.

Layton has been going crazy these last few days, I think it is due to the trip coming up and he is getting stressed and excited at the same time, plus he is not sleeping well either. So we aren't telling him when the trip is and hopefully he'll be able to sleep the night before!

Well I better head off to bed I have some big days ahead of me this week! Oh yah that reminds me I have to do sharing time this week....

Hey don't feel bad for me.... I have a massage on monday morning and a pedicure on tuesday morning! ahhhh and both are FREE!

Okay So I suck at the blogging thing lately... but if it makes you feel any better, My house is clean almost all the time... It is kind of a trade off for me! lol But anywho...

We went to the torch today and let me tell you ... it was WAY bigger than I thought! the flame is like at least 3 ft in the air and the actual stick thingy... is probably 3 ft too... well I guess it kind of has to be now that I think about it cause otherwise we would have a lot of burn victim torch runners! ha ha.

Layton had a break down because we didn't get a flag. But he did get a limited edition coke bottle. With coke in it.... you all know how I feel about Coke... But on this occasion I am going to let him drink the black death, the potty cleaner, the stomach turner... the... well you get the idea. I am really hoping he doesn't like it! lol...

I think it was a bank manager. Not sure though, he had a hard time running the 10 or so blocks by the time he got to us (near the end of his little jont) he was walking, which made for good pictures! We got to see the exchange of flames too! that was neat. Although no pics because of the 50 or so people around him and the girl that took over the next part!

Here is Layton with his coke bottle... Maybe he'll be the next torch runner... heave knows he could run the whole thing....lol especially if he had a coke to drink before! lol

Okay I know it has been some time since my last post... But I have been very busy! I am so thankful for that as well! We had some super amazing visitors this last couple of weeks. We had so much fun!

I did things a little different this year with our turkey and it turned out fanastic! I brined it and then roasted it a little different. I am going to make a post about it just before Christmas so look for that. But here is what It looked like!

We also took pics with the cousins!! They turned out great... what do you think!! Ha ha .. I am kiddn....

We joined this year! Childrens indoor play society!! it is on mondays and thursdays from 930 to 1130! it's AWESOME! This year at there welcome back party they had a petting zoo and a magician and a clown who conviently made balloon animals!! There was cake and snacks and so MANY toys and cars to drive, play houses and WOW! too much to handle! It is awesome! I do have to do a fundraiser though so when I call about premade cookie dough you must all buy from me!! EVERY ONE!! lol. Here are some pics. (they aren't very good cause Lindsay took my D50 and I didn't want to bring my baby out so the point and shoot got dusted off for this job!)

When we talked about puting them into chips Layton kept asking about the petting zoo.

"Are thier going to be giraffes there? how about koalas? Kangaroos?"

I said no to all 3.... some farmer Joe made me a liar!

Tana enjoyed being toted around like a queen in the wagon!!

She too ventured into the petting zoo. But quickly desided she wasn't really fond of touching the animals!! ha ha. She likes her Zoo's a little more traditional. You stay on your side I'll stay on mine! ha ha

Her new best bud Teah! (not sure how to spell) She goes to church with us and is the same age as Tana! They love to play with each other!

Garden goodness!

We planted some squash this spring and although they start off small and insignificant they quickly grew and took over the garden. But they are really yummy! We ate just half of this with butter salt and pepper and fresh garden tomatoes.... Oh so yummy.

Layton found some quilt batting and wanted me to make him a teddy bear. So since we had the stuff and Lindsay was leaving (a sad time for us all) I buckled and made him one. He loves it though! I think it turned out okay... for just taking scraps and sewing together to make somthing cute...RIGHT!?!?! ha ha

His name is Teddy and that is a "T" hand stiched on his chest!! I know we are so original!! Next thing you know we will invent the wheel!

Okay so most of you know that we missed the PA reunion and for good reason! We were renovating! yeah!!!!! I am sure you have either heard me talk about how dated our upstairs looks and how I loved the pink carpets and walls and blinds and ceiling fans!! Okay I assume you caught the sarcasm there...
We finally saved up enough to paint, put casings up and rip down that little wall that divided the front door from the living room. We also bought drapes for the dining room! We purchased the rod for the living room and have to hang it still! Although with no drapes..... we might wait!! ha ha. The living room rod was a bit expensive because the window is 11 ft across. We had to get an heirloom one that is made for older homes!! yikes..... so the drapes will wait until we can afford them!! I am going to look for fabric soon so we can get an Idea of what we want!

We also went on a holiday at a bed and breakfast in cold lake that a family we know and are related to some how down the line runs!! We seem to go there every summer and I LOVE it!! first of all the breakfasts are always amazing and the senery is second to none! There are lots of trails to walk and my favorite is the horses!! Chester and Regal!! I love to go horse back riding and its soooo nice to do that there! Next time I am going out longer though!
Because Warren and I go the kids all get rides too!! Here are a few pics from there!

Other things around the house are Tana has been trying out the toilet lately! She has pooped twice in it and then quit! I think I better get on that before she looses interest!

So Lindsay didn't get the supervisor job. I was probably more sad than he was! My bottom lip was definitely out more than usual! But in my goal of trying to be more positive! I decided that I can't pout about something that I couldn't control! I left it in the lords hands and here we are! There must be a reason for it and so I'll just continue on and watch and see what happens!
I am having trouble sleeping these days! Hence why I am up at 5:00 am! The sad part is I have been up since 4 and the kids will probably be up at 6!! Although there are many moms who I am sure can relate, I am still pouting! Since I was up I thought I would read my scriptures and came across psalm 18:30. As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. For those of you who don't know what a buckler is, it is a shield. This verse made my heart sing! Maybe there was a reason I couldn't get back to sleep.
Well that's all for now! I am going to lie down and shut my eyes for a little while longer and enjoy the quiet of the house while I can!

Oh Layton passed his swimming lesson he graduated from salamander and now is a sunfish!! Yah hoo!!

Okay so things have been busy her lately!! We are home from the awesome holidays and loved every minuite of it! When we got home we had to clean up a big mess from that aweful storm, Part of our tree fell down! YIKES! Layton has started swimming lessons and is having trouble puting his head under the water! So we are working on it in the bath tub! we'll see how today goes!

This picture isn't the greatest! The lighting in there is horrible! I did my first newborn shoot for some one I didn't' know the other day! I posted on my photography blog you can see them there! It was nerve racking but so awesome! I loved how they turned out though. I have been busy editing and taking the kids to do fun things. Lindsay goes for his interview on Thursday for the supervisor job. I am nervous for him!! He's not though!! maybe a little but he sure hides it well!

Funny story...... I had to share it had me laughing until I fell asleep last night!

Last night we were getting the kids ready for bed. Threw them in the bath gave them a snack brushed there teeth read stories and sang songs... you know the normal routine! hugs and kisses then Lindsay and I sit in the hallway playing tap tap revenge on the ipod the size of a deck of cards!! ha ha... whilst Lindsay was kicking my behind in this game I hear out of the almost silent background ...chear..ishhhahhhh..... chear..ishhhahhhh........ gradually getting louder..... CHEARISHAAAHHHH....... TIME..... OWDDD

Tana.....was giving me time outs!! what she was trying to say was Theresa time out.... Oh man... so funny!

It has been crazy busy here! We haven't really stopped much since we got here. Things we have done since we got here.

Summer has almost slipped past me this year! Things are so crazy these days! I can't beleive it is July already and We'll be leaving for holidays soon! Wow time flies! I have been busy editing wedding pics and the odd shoot here and there. I decided to take a break and take the kids to the park tonight and it was +30 and I forgot to put sunscreen on them... oops! lol. They aren't burnt to bad just a little pink! I'll be better next time I promise!

The first things the kids do is RUN as fast as they can to the bridge and look for snails...

Then mommy gets to fish one out and put it on there hands...ewww

Then to the play ground! Tana's new trick!

We go for a walk... make it about 3 min down the path and time for a rest!

I am glad I did! This was a cute flower the size of a dime! and such a pretty shade of pinky purple!

And cause we are in wild rose country! Viva la Alberta!

Well its not what your thinking~! ha ha! We are watching these little creepy things for a friend of mine! They are ALL Layton talks about, besides Indiana jones lego!

We have been keeping busy with house stuff, the kids and just hanging out as a family! IT has been wonderful to have a bit of down time! Things are super crazy this summer so it seems! I bet yours is the same! We finally got a bit of rain the other day. It is sooo dry here. The farmers are really suffering. My garden is doing okay for now. I have a few tomatoes, but the bugs got my raddishes... booo bugs. The peas are coming up great though. Can't wait to taste one!

We had Heather and Troy come visit with their little guy Ethan.... (We call him freda here) Tana and Layton had a blast with him. And why not! He is pretty cute!

Well, thats all for now but stay tuned we have some very exciting news to relay in the next couple of days!! NO were not pregnant!

Catch Up

Okay so we went to Prince Albert and had soooo much fun there! The Kids love love love it~ The animals and aunts and uncles and the dirt.... oh yes the giant dirt pile we call the garden! layton picked flowers for grandma everyday!! lol. I also had the chance to go for my first massage.... oh man if you have never been YOU MUST GO!! So completly relaxing and for $50 I can't imagine any better way to blow that money! I will be back!!
Then we moved along to regina, Makin decent time I might add! had so much fun there too! kids made crafts, I taught Kels to make bows. Spent time at the giant play park! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Layton went out with Uncle Dan and Auntie Krista to a movie, He still talks about it! (And Dan's new ride, he's jealous) and wears the 3 D waifare glasses I might add! I went out to dinner with Jim and Courtney! So Nice! Thanks again guys! (p.s.I am jealous of your new ride!)
Then it was time to make the journey home... Just me and the kids! Yup only took 11 hours! Now I am not to sure how many of you (look at me being optimistic and assuming more than one person is reading this!! ) know how long of a trip it is but it's usually only about 8 hours....
Good thing we were driving on a road with not much oncoming traffic! ha ha!

While we were away, we got new windows put in! yup we gave them a key and they let themselves in and did the job then left! Don't worry, It was the primary pianist and the bishop from church! (if we can't trust them who can we!!) They are fabulous, and quiet and New!! we also ripped down the fiber wall, cause it was a textured wall underneath and it was horrible! So we re-drywalled it and put the corners on today! so still have a ways to go.

The day after we got home we went to the Young Womens silent auction and Dinner, to raise money for girls camp. (I donated a photoshoot.) It was super fun and since we were all home to go we got all dolled up and took pics to prove it!

My Friend Holly and I decided to do a kids swap. I take them one day and she takes them the next! So she took my kids all day! How wonderful,
I cleaned out the room of doom (you can imagine by the name what it was like)
I did 7 loads of laundry
I set up the crib for Ethan
I put the corners up on the drywall
I patched nicks and scratches in the hall way
I made pizza for lunch
I went and looked at paint colours
I had an amazing shower!
I revamped my website.
I edited pictures.
I cleaned the basement.

I love having no kids for a day! THANK YOU HOLLY!!

and my garden! It has come up so well! I am so happy with it for my first garden I couln't be more pleased. I hope it all goes well for the rest of the summer!

Oh and if any one wants ruebarb...PLEASE FEEL FREE TO TAKE SOME!

Lindsay is gone to cornwall and I am in regina. We are going to be reunited again tomorrow. Oh how I can't wait. I miss MY man. Who ever said that absence makes the heart grow fonder is SOOOOO right. It makes us forget what little imperfections they have, It makes us forget all the bad times we went through, It makes us forget everything in the world except the love we have for that person. So IT's may long wich means 2 things in this household.

One,

It's Our Anniversary.... Yup that's right people 6 long years!! just kiddn' I can't imagine what it would be like to be married to anyone else. Lindsay is definatly the man for me!

Two,
Gardening season
This year is the fist year I have ever had a garden!! YEAH!! I am anxious to see it grow...all though the weather man...(lindsay) Has told me that it is supposed to snow on wednesday. aaah all my hard work on my little garden might be totally ruined.....so don't pray that it wont snow, rather pray that it will rain instead!

Here is a before picture! Lindsay built this little wall so it would keep the kids REMEMBERING that this is a garden now... not a giant sand box like last year!

I had the oppurtunity to get back home to Prince Albert over the week for my great Aunt's funeral. I was a pallbearer, Somthing completly new to me, It was definatly a neat and humbling experience.

I had such a nice time catching up with family that I don't normally get a chance to see. It was a really nice treat and definatly worth the long 6 hour solo drive with the kids. ( I know I am crazy!) I can't believe it was a three year gap of not seeing some of them, and others a lot longer. I Love my family and we had such a great time! Here are some pics of the week.

Okay So I finally baked something and I took a picture of it!! And believe me it is sssuper (yes it really does deserve the triple s) yummy!! LOVED this recipe!!

Chocolate peanut butter cupcakes with chocolate frosting!

Not only are these cupcakes light and fluffy, they are sooo delicious, with not too much PB flavor. But what really makes them super yummy is the frosting, It is so good you'll be dipping your finger again and again into the bowl. Seriously, best home made Frosting I have ever had.

2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/8 tsp bakin soda
1/2 cup Peanut butter
3 tbsp cocoa
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/4 cups 2% milk
3 lg eggs
1 tsp vanilla

mix all dry ingredients in large bowl them make well, add wet ingredients and mix on low for 30 secs, then high for 3 min. YES WHIP FOR WHOLE 3 MIN. If you don't the'll be really dence.
This makes 20-36 cupcakes... I always just have enough for 24. I like mine big!

Frosting

6 tbsp butter (marg)
1/2 cup cocoa use 1/3 for less chocolaty or 2/3 for more chocolaty!! mmm.
2 2/3 cup powdered sugar (icing sugar)
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
whip whip whip.....
makes 3.25 cups.
I usually 1/2 the recipe for my 24 cupcakes. And trust me I am generous with the icing!! ha ha
Although in the picture it doesn't look like it, they were for a 3 year old party!! lol...the less sugar the better! ha ha
With the icing, yellow sprinkles and a mini egg...(my fav)

Okay I am trying to contain my excitement here but I AM SO EXCITED!! We finally (after 6 years of trying), have booked our trip to Australia!! waaaa hooooo! And the best part is we get to go some where I have wanted to go for a really really really long time, on the way back! It is every kids dream (and every 27 year old mother of 2's dream)

That's right people we are going to DISNEY LAND!! Holy smokes I can't believe it!! I am sooooooo excited! We aren't telling Layton or Tana until we get to Australia but seriously I could scream and shout!!

I can go through the whole day in my head and sometimes think that I accomplish..NOTHING...
But REALLY.... I am sure I am Not giving my self enough credit. I had some one really special to me... Some one I admire... (You KNOW who you are...lol.. Or maybe not...lol) Tell me that I was a good MOM...
That is such a great thing to hear. ecspecially since my house was completely turned up side down and I gave up half way through the day trying to even come close to managing what my tornado children destroy every day!
I felt like a complete failure. Then this beautiful compliment out of NO WHERE.... Ahhh made my week. Sometimes you have to realize that when your house is completely destroyed it doesn't mean your a bad mom... It means that you took the time to create crafts, build forts, have picnics, imagine, and just be that kindof MOM that the kids love.
So really what did you accomplish today?
Probably more than you thought!

My last post was March 15th! So I'll catch you up a bit. Lindsay got home and we enjoyed him all to our selves for a couple of days. That was great! We went to Ikea and bought a dresser for Layton .(His old one was falling apart...All three drawer bottoms fell out in one day!) We also purchased a new bed for Tana a big girl bed!! She wont be in that for a while! I am not ready for the 2 am visits...ha ha! We also got her a matching dresser. I did an engagement shoot last weekend and that was great.
Then the craziness broke out.... Tana and Layton got sick then Lindsay then me....aaaah. I babysat a Wed, Thurs, Fri. with a full house all three days... Lindsay took time off work to get better, This is what we did almost every night!

We had a birthday party yesturday at a pool, It was fun and Layton took home a hat! He is pretty excited for his party..... So he decorated the house...yup those are forks on the wall! He can be so creative!! ha ha

I also edited pictures from my engagement shoot my sewing machine broke and cost me $45 to fix. It has been crazy. Not to mention we must have been extra good this year cause Santa's reindeer left us a little gift the other day! YIKES!! Maybe we should have put up a bigger fence! ha ha

It has been mostly beautiful outside this week! with highs of +11. We are loving it! We made a snow cave... it caved in but we still had fun making it!

Wild and Wacky Weekend!

So lindsay has been gone for a while now, but good news he might be home on the 18th!! YEAH!! We miss him here at the smith house! But while he has been gone we have recieved....gifts (that is how I am going to look at it) from above... Yes snow.. and lots of it! and blizzards!!

I was shoveling my neighbours walk on thursday and I sprained my ankle...where is carma when you need her! So I was not able to walk and Lindsay not being home I couldn't take any drugs for it either!! ( many of you that really know me know that drugs and me don't exactly mix... well actually we mix a little to well if you know what I mean!) So I call my sister Kate and she drove up from red deer and watched my kids all night so that I could drug myself better!

It was an awesome night... I really want more of those nights!! With out the drugs!!

So then after the next day we went to her house in red deer and planned to be home saturday night... well that didn't happen... cause uh you guessed it BLIZZARD and not the dairy queen Kind either! So we stayed another night (poor mudd didn't get fed for 2 days) Then drove home sunday to make it home for church... well I forgot about daylight savings...boo on alberta!! And didn't realize it until we left that I was going to be a little late! Thankfully the roads were good! (bless those angelic highway workers) and we made it home in 1 hour exactly and got changed I showerd and we went to church 20 min late! But all in all a very eventfull week end!

Oh while we were in Red deer we took in the home and garden show and Tana Smacked Andrew Dan Jumbo (yes off of trading spaces and while you were out) In the bum with a balloon. How completely embarrasing... I was so red, and to top it off I took the balloon away and she had a fit and hit me in the face 3 times.... yup that is my child!! Wow...what happend to my baby! aaaaah!

But on the brighter side of things I got my head shots taken by an amazing photographer!! (Hi Amanda at chicks that click photography!) They turned out awesome I love them!!!! Thanks so much!! Here are a few for you to enjoy!

Hey everyone!! Okay so Lately (probably because of weather) I have been feeling very unmotivated and have added a few unwelcome visitors around my tummy area, you know them I am sure, from time to time they show up when your down in the dumps and stay long after your up and running again! They have also been known to take over my entire body when pregnant! ewwww~~ ha ha!

Any way as many of you know Lindsay is going to be gone for yet another month on training so I decided that I would try to get into shape while he is gone! You know, like get rid of those unwanted visitors, that are slowly creeping down to my hips...double ewww~~ So after you wash your eyes out with bleach from that mental image, I have decided to do a 30 day challenge.

DISCLAIMER: Okay IT IS NOT A CRASH DIET!! lol just to make that clear!~ It isn't even really to lose weight although you are likely it isn't about that, it is about living healthier! So because of my lack of energy lately I am doing this to be more fit and healthy.

Well between unpacking laundry and cleaning....cleaning and oh yah...more cleaning, Babysitting, Getting ready for clients, (which means more intense cleaning), Lindsay working overtime, and editing pictures, I managed to have some fun! Our whole family has been having a blast lately. I am going to chalk it up on my new attitude on life. What is it your wondering, well My new attitude is to laugh! When I am going to get mad at something or am frustrated... I just laugh! I am a control freak and I know it! So I am changing my ways and deciding that I can't control everything and life is more fun when you don't TRY TO!! ha ha! So that is my new years resolution... I know it is late but I had to do a lot of thinking about how I wanted to change! (you know cause there are so much room for improvement!! ha ha!

Tana is learning tons of new words everyday! It's great! And Layton ...is well the silliest kid I know! he is always doing something to make me laugh! I love it! Hope you all have a great week-end and we'll try to be better about blogging next week!

We are home and going like crazy again!! (Like we could have it any other way!) The holiday was great! we got to visit family, sleep, eat well, and just enjoy our time! It was a nice break! Lindsay and I got to go to my Friend M's house to visit her and her fiance!! They are the cutest couple! On V-day we did their engagement photos! It was freezing! Like -25! I learned something new (as I always do on shoots) It was that if you wear waterproof mascara when it is that cold out side it would save having to go into a hotel bathroom and cleaning your entire face of the black stuff! ha ha! Although I did need to warm up! we didn't spend much time out side but my toes had no feeling when we left to go back inside! Still I had sooo much fun and can't wait to do it again!! (not so much the cold part).

We got home on Sunday and then on Monday it was Lindsay's birthday! So I made his favorite dinner. Steak on spinach salad with roasted tomatoes and corn on the cob. Then we had banana splits for desert! He spent most of the night on his new Ipod touch. Which I think is pretty cool too! (don't tell him I said that) Well I think that gets us caught up until now! Hey everyone!

So I am here at the farm and am having an awesome time! I have been taking it really easy!! I have had a couple of naps a day and letting the kids go wild...cause there are enough animals here to keep them busy! NO JOKE!! about 16 cats, 5 horses, a bunny, and a dog (that hates bunnies). I love it though! It is nice to come home and relax. Lindsay and I are heading to Saskatoon tonight and then on Saturday we are taking my friend Miranda`s engagement pictures!! Its going to be awesome! Plus I haven't seen her in a COON`s age! ( I have been listening to Grandpa`s stories again) Well I am going to keep this short cause I have been on the Internet for a while now! ha ha. But seriously it is hard to believe that my parents only have dial up..... Everything Takes forever here!! But I guess that is all part of the charm of the farm...Yes I rhymed that on purpose!! Mint chocolate chip pie

I know...your mouth is watering already!! mmmm

Really easy to make! and so so so yummy! I know I am cheating with this one on the whole baking thing but I think you'll understand!

2 cups whipping cream
2tablespoons icing sugar
2 cups cold milk
1-1/2 peppermint extract
5-6 drops of green food colouring
1 jello instant vanilla pudding (100g/3.4oz)
1 cup mini semi sweet chocolate chips
1 9 in deep dish pastry shell (or 2-9 in reg shells)

In a small mixing bowl, beat cream and sugar until stiff peaks form, Ina a large mixing bowl,. combine the milk, extract, food coloring. Add vanilla pudding and beat on low for 2 min or until thickened. (let sit for 5 min) Fold in cream and chocolate chips. Refrigerate for 3 hours or until set.

Tips.
Make sure you let it sit or it will flop...
Do not over mix cream and chocolate chips or it will flop...
Makes a lot of pie so do some sit ups the day before or your belly will flop!!

The Oilers!!

Okay, WAY back in Sept I did a shoot for some friends of mine and in return they bought me oilers tickets!! So the game day finally came and it was AWESOME!! there were some great fights and some awesome goals and with friends like these how could we not have had a blast!!

When we first got there we had to find parking...now I am not sure how many of you have ever been to an oilers game or Rexall place for that matter, needless to say they didn't plan that place out very well!! We happened to get a spot 1 block from rexall and only 5$. Not to mention we parked by an escalade so we new our car wouldn't have been stolen...well not first any way! ha.

We got to rexall a couple min late and found our seats....well apparently they are really stricked about waiting until there is a stop in play before you can go walking around...geesh..who knew! As soon as we got there, there was a fight! Then like 5 min later a goal!! It was great! Then a couple of more fights..a Zamboni....some girls shoveling..one of them fell.. I laughed. I also laughed at what people wore to get on the big screen. Man it is distracting when they start filming people!! I almost mist a goal because of it!! lol

After the game we drove home in a blizzard and freezing rain going 70km/hr for most of the way. So our 45min drive turned into 1 hr or so... but we were alive so I am not complaining. There were a lot of cars in the ditch. But thankfully not ours! Good ol' centry has yet to let me down!! lol... Oh and the prayer I said before we left probably helped alot too!!

Yeah another fake N bake friday already!!
I got this recipie from a family friend. If you enjoy gingersnaps that are NOT hard!! Then this is the recipe for you. Seriously though I have to include a warning. These are very addictive.

3/4 cup Margerine

1 cup White sugar

1 egg

1/2 cup mollases

1/2 tsp salt

2 1/2 cup flour

2 tsp baking soda

2 tsp ginger

1 tsp cinnamon

Cream margerine and sugar and egg together then add the rest of ingredients, except flour. Fold in flour at end and then roll into balls( kids are great at helping this part along)

Place on greased pan and bake at 350 for 8-12 min..

***** 8 min for soft cookies 12 min for hard*******

Okay!! So you know when you go to a store and you see somthing amazing! And you pretty much HAVE to HAVE it!! well When I seen this that is exactly what happend! It is pretty amazing! I call it my mini breifcase! It has fold away handles (like a purse) and all the form of a day planner with a combination of stuff for the business man..ONLY it is super sleek and the colours totally scream business WOMAN!! It comes in pink and plain black to. There is somthing to be said about a person who has good penmanship and likes to write things down in one main center for them to find... No recharging batteries or bad connections or lost data, just me and my pen, reunited!

But the best thing about it is it's a franklin covey.....OOOOO la la Palm pilot eat my dust! (that is if I actually owned one!! )

now I bet you want one too!! They can be bought at walmart for $27 and some change!

Weak tummies need not read!

My kids love them... really really really love them. If they don't get one everyday, tears usually end up all over their cheeks. I really don't mind giving them one. It gives me time to sit during the day and I usually talk on the phone or tidy the bathroom. But yesterday was a bit excessive with the bath time, and I'll tell you why. Tana had....well... for lack of better words the runs. She has really never had them before.

Wow... did she make up for that yesterday. I was down stairs changing laundry when Layton yells out his morning report.... MOMMY TANA'S POOPY. So hearing this I finish my laundry and come upstairs... only to find Tana covered in it. Not to mention it was all over the floor, couch, and blankets ( great more laundry!!). So I quickly spring into action, pick her up and fly to the bathroom... leaving a trail of poop behind of course. I then strip her down and throw her in the bath and run the water. Layton then yells I want a bath too.... (Of course you do) so in he goes.

Then for the clean up. Thankfully Lindsay bought me a bissle cleaner for Christmas!! Well used already! I start on the carpets and move my way down the hall to the bath room. Now the machine is loud but not loud enough that I can't hear the kids. Why do I bring this up...well I didn't hear Layton get out of the tub But I did hear the laughing and splashing, which then I thought, not on top of laundry I now have to clean the bathroom! Well it turns out that Layton thought that Spot and Reuben( our two stuffed dogs) needed a bath too...

So I stopped the bissle and went to the rescue of our expensive and adorable dogs and squeezed then damp... (instead of soaking) I took the kids out of the bath dried them, dressed them and sat them on the couch with a movie, then I finished my carpet cleaning. After all this, I went to change the laundry..when I was down there, exhausted, almost in tears(mostly cause I had been up all night and going full force since 6am) I heard these dreaded, no HORRIFIC words... MOMMY TANA'S POOPY. And if you want to re-read the story again that is pretty much how it went...only no dogs in the water.

Any way the day didn't end badly. I booked 2 weddings yesturday and watched a movie then went to bed! OH and Inbetween the chaos I did get a pretty cute picture of Tana.... Naked. well cause I wasn't going to dress her for a third time. Which was smart I might add!

Giving Back

As of Lately I have been taking things off the Internet. Mostly advice, tutorials and colouring pages and activity Ideas. I then thought to my self, "Self" Someone somewhere took the time to get those Ideas or pages or what have you and post them on the Internet so that i could use them. So having talked to myself long enough to creep most of you out.... I came up with this.
I have a talent.... Its baking.
SO here is the birth of FAKE N BAKE FRIDAY.

It was a combination of fake it till you make it and listening to your so vain on the radio... any way painfully moving along, Here it is.

Easy Bread sticks

1 pkg or TBSP active dry yeast
1 Tbsp honey or sugar
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 tsp salt
2-4 cups flour

In a large mixing bowl soften yeist and honey in warm water. Allow 5 min to stand. Stir in salt. Add flour blending with spoon until dough pulls away from bowl. Divide into 12 pieces and roll out until 10-12 inches long. (I cut mine into 3 after this step and make little ones for the kids)
Place on greased cookie sheet and brush with melted butter or margarine. Add desired toppings

I use Garlic and sea salt in a hand grinder and then add Parmesan cheese. It is a hit every time. You can but the garlic and sea salt at sobeys...
I also do cheese and oregano and then dip them in marinara sauce!

I was tagged and now I am supposed to write 6 (un)interesting things about myself. Hmmm I am having some trouble coming up with 6!! ha ha JUST KIDDING.

1) I can only wear socks once (per wash). It is a weird thing..I know. But true. I can not put on a pair of socks if they have been worn once already...even if only for a short period.

Well We have been trying to get Layton to realize that we are not made of money and that we have to work for it. (Mostly cause he wants me to buy him somthing everytime we go somewhere) So we have made him work for it. He cleans his room and the living room and we pay him accordingly. Well I have also been using this as a barganing trick. If he is bad he has to give back some of his hard earned money..I like to think of it as a meaness fine. It has been working really well!! He is so much nicer and he cleans up after him self! Money is a huge motivator!! I just hope he doesn't learn the difference between pennies and loonies!!! ha ha

He's faster than than road runner

He's stronger than any toy that's ever made!

He's as agile as a cat.

and he's a sunbeam!

He came home today proud as can be. He went to sunbeams all by himself for the whole 2 hours and LOVED IT!

His teacher (who I adore, but can't remember her name) came up to me and said, " He is so smart. What a terrific sunbeam he is!" I always knew he was smart ( so much it makes my brain hurt at the end of the day) but it is really nice to hear that from a by stander. I am so pleased with MY sunbeam.

(for those who don't know, CTR means Choose The Right. and Sunbeams is a class for 3-4 year olds at church.)

Well We have been super busy this week. I designed an ad for a wedding planner in ponoka news, I have been making flyer's for the wedding photography contest. Lindsay made new web pages for the contest and help me perfect the ad and flyer's!! He also started as acting supervisor on the first! And my Day home opened this week again! We live a crazy life here!!! But at least the kids aren't sick anymore! I am so excited to get my first paying job it isn't even funny!! I anxiously open my e-mail like 50 times a day to see if there is one!! ha ha!! I know I am obsessive! On the up side I have had 6 entry's to the contest already!! In just over 24 hours! I am excited to see who wins!!

Welcome to 2009 everyone!! We had a quiet (well as quiet as can be with two crazy kidslets around) New Years eve!! Lindsay got off work early, (yet another reason why I love his job!!) and he went into edmonton bought me my flash....I saved up for it and if I didnt' get it for Christmas I was going to buy it after because of the sale price!! and I got moms picture printed so he picked that up too!! Just the 8x10 trial picture...It turned out great so on to the super huge family portrait!! he he

OH and great news I figured out how to change some settings for my blogger and now I don't have to go Private!! Which means you can just view the page as before!! YEAH!!!!!

I dressed the kids up with their new clothes and took some pictures for new years.... I'll warn you I cut Tana's bangs.....and they are horribly crooked...Thank goodness hair grows!! he he

Christmas morning was fantastic and full of surprises!! seriously! I got the best present any photographer could ask for!!!

I got the a new camera!! Isn't it beautiful!! Lindsay surprised me with this baby On Christmas morning!! Lets just say that the tears were flowing freely and my cheeks were the colour of cherries!! I was soooooo happy! Also the kids got some great gifts too!! They have been Playing with them for the last couple of days!! I can't even say that they have a favorite because everyday they discover one they hadn't really investigated yet!! Lindsay's Parents have been here for the week and we have been having so much fun with them!! I went boxing day shopping with Marette and that was really fun...and expensive!! But The kids are going to look super cute this year!! lol...
Well I probably wont post until new years as I am busy reading the manual that is the size of a small novel...only not quite as good a read!! lol

ELEVEN REASONS WHY I LOVE MY KIDS:

1) They make me laugh

2)They are very creative, all over the walls and floors. Sometimes with different mediums...like pudding or tomato soup!

3)They say HI to everyone...even creepy people

4)They help me in what ever I am doing...even when I don't need the help

5)They love to bake.

6)They love chocolate or any other candy

7)They love to run around naked with diapers on their head

8)They have beautiful hair...even though I had to cut Tana's due to a big wad of gum from the ginger bread house!

9)They LOVE church.

10)They love there Daddy and miss him like crazy when he is gone.

and finally:

Because in church Today during the most reverent part of sacrament meeting they had a giggle war each laughing harder and harder every time....

and SO DID I

...bad parenting I know but it was so funny I cried!

The Countdown!

A couple of years ago we started this Smith family Tradition. Because we were always away for from our families and we knew we were going to be flying home and or driving home, To get us excited for Christmas we did an e-mail out for our families on the countdown to when we left...well this Year Christmas is at our home and so we are doing until Christmas eve!! SO Exciting ...so here it is!!

I have had kids over everyday except monday and boy it has been a crazy week! all boys....except Tana and I ....and Saydie...sorrie I am not sure how to spell it!

Tana copies everything that Layton does.....Layton hates that!

Okay...good things happen to those who wait right!!?!?

Well they do!! I finally found my friend Miranda who I have been looking for forever......

well okay that is very dramatized...for almost 6 years~!! I thought I was going to have to go on OPRAH soon just to find her!! ha ha...The last time I saw her was at my Wedding....wow...right?!? I KNOW!! That was forever ago....(sorry hunny not really!)

Oh and did I tell you that I am excited about it!?!? WELL I AM!!! just thought I would share it with my bloggin' buddies!!

Oh and I wanted to say a huge thank you for all those that support my Photography. Wow never would I have thought that people would take so well to what I do ...

So when Tana went down for a nap yesterday...Layton and I brought out his very first paint set and painted the barn red!!! lol..

He wanted to paint a farm and so we painted a barn and some animals...He learned how to mix colours and create new ones. He wore an over sized t-shirt of mine. He looked so cute!

Oh and on the way to red deer Layton asked what bodies are for...so I began to explain that with out bodies we couldn't do lots of things....

I asked: What can you do with your eyes?

He replied: There for seein' mommy

I asked: What do you with your nose?

He replied: Oh..when snot comes out of it you have to get a tissue!

I asked: what do you do with your ears?

He replied: Oh that is for holdin' your glasses on your face~

Oh and we put up the Christmas tree a couple of weeks ago...We have a couple of presents under it! I am really excited to have Christmas at our house this year!

Okay so many of you know already that we have one of these, Bringers of Joy in our lives. And to some extent it is really awesome. But not being much for video games other than Mario (because we go way back Mario and I..since the first Nintendo, I owe it to him to stay friends) I haven't really dabbled into the world of x-box all that much.

Until NOW that is Layton has taken to this like he has everything new in his life...OBSESSIVELY!

He is crazy...the first thing out of his mouth is x-box in the morning...the second if you were wondering is "Is it Christmas yet?"

The really sad part is, that he is already better than me!

Now for Tana

She is SO whinny right now, I think it is because of her cold. She is such a baby when she is sick, mind you I shouldn't really complain..after all she is a baby! But still....COME ON! She is waking up at 3:30 every morning and crying....I let her....she just wants me to hold her, But she is sneaky...soon she'll take over my bed...and I'll be on the couch then she'll want to be with me there....and then I am downstairs...well you get the Idea! I was making cookies and it seemed oftly quiet and I looked over and she passed out. How great! and she slept for 2 hours...that's right people...two hole hours!!

That was great...except then I had to play x-box with Layton...I killed his guy...by accident...and he yelled at me and told me to give the controller back and he would do it himself cause I wasn't very good.....all I had to say to that was FINE!! and I stuck out my tongue....which he then told me to go to my room and have a time out....SO I DID!! lol..

I had the chance to do Kate and James Pictures ( more on the photography blog) as well as Grandma and Grandpa's When we went to PA. Layton wanted in all of the pictures too....he's only 3 so we let him..but there was no excuse for Charlene!! LOL just teasing Char! What a fun weekend we had a surprise birthday party for mom and got her some new cake pans and a new mixing bowl. She loved it! Karen and Terry joined the party and it was great! She has raised (and still raising) 8 children, 4 of whom married in the temple and another soon to be sealed.

She has 5 beautiful Grandchildren, and hardly a wrinkle to prove it.

She is the most talented person I know I owe everything to her, As you know...she did give me life!

Ode to Single Parents

I have said it once or twice since Lindsay has left for his course nearly 5 weeks ago. Being a single mom is tough. I seriously don't know how they do it. I having only a glimpse of what they deal with full time and I can say honestly....I admire every single parent out there.

The amount of effort every day takes, the fact that you can't get sick or take a day off, or even just an hour or two with out the kids with out hiring a baby sitter or relying on friends or family that are around to take them. The mental drainage you feel as a single parent far surpasses any fatigue I have ever felt before.

I KNOWING that this will be over in a few days and I am holding on...amazingly! (Thanks to my generous families and friends) There have been days where it its 3:00pm and I want the day to be over already. I have had days where I want to leave and never come back. Some days I don't want to leave home because it is way to much work, just to have a screaming child act up the whole time we are gone. I have endless nights of children's tears. Some nights are shorter but with children in my bed, one pulling my hair and the other kicking my stomach.

This life is one of solitude and inner belief. These people, these AMAZING parents, are truly an inspiration to me. If you know of one in your life, be good to them, call them see how there day went. Be a good friend, offer to take their kids for even just an hour and don't let them say no. They need the break. TRUST ME. They will love you for it!

P.S. Only 10 more sleeps until Lindsay gets home...HORAY!!!

Happy Halloween!

We are pleased to announce our newest member of our family,

His name : Ghost!

As you can see we have grown quite attached to this little guy....I am not sure how Layton is going to take it when we have to put in his big blue coffin and send him away to the garbage heaven.....I'll let you know how it goes!

P.S. Funny how he loves him now but when we were scooping the seeds out he almost threw up!
